Hearing God's Voice

I was in prayer one day and I felt the Holy Spirit said to me:

"If I hear Him and if I eat what He is saying, I will live!"

This revelation comes from Matthew 4:4.

"Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "" - Matthew 4:3-4 NKJV

So how does one eat what the Lord is saying?

In the same way, the mouth is an entrance to the body, the eyes and the ears are entrances into the heart and soul. So if I hear, if I read and meditate what He is saying—I will live.

Jesus said the wors that He speaks, are spirit and life.

""It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63 NKJV

"The Spirit can make life. Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen. Every word I’ve spoken to you is a Spirit-word, and so it is life-making." John 6:63 The Message

What about someone's business that is failing, what about someone's relationship that is failing? The business may fall apart, the relationship may fall apart but His promise to you is that, if you eat what He is saying, you will live!!

"But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you." - Isaiah 43:1-2 NKJV

Why do I need to hear Jesus?

1. The Father said we need to hear His Son

"Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"" - Matthew 17:4-5 NKJV

2. His words abide in me

""If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." - John 15:7 NKJV

3. God speaks to us now through His Son.

"In many separate revelations [[a]each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets,

[But] in [b]the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]." Hebrews 1:1-2 AMP

If the Father says that He is speaking to me through His Son, then it might be beneficial to know the message of the Son.

What is the message of the Son?

The message of the Son is the kingdom.

"Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,"-Mark 1:14 NKJV

Most of Jesus’ parables were about the kingdom of God.

Now here are some practical tips about hearing God's voice.

You could hear His voice through:

· dreams,

· repeating coincidences,

· visions.

The voice in my thoughts

The mind of Christ means Christ is in my thoughts. God takes over my train of thought.

If I think spiritual, I am spiritual.

I think the Word, I mediate the Word, I meditate what God has said, I meditate on the testimonies of God.

If I think carnal, I am carnal.
It’s not the way I look that determines if I’m carnal; it’s how I’m thinking that determines it.

Read how Paul explains this in Romans 8:1-7:

Romans 8.

Romans 8:1 NKJV - "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."

Romans 8:2 NKJV - "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."

Romans 8:3 NKJV - "For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,"

Romans 8:4 NKJV - "that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."

Romans 8:5 NKJV - "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit."

Romans 8:6 NKJV - "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

Romans 8:7 NKJV - "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be."

If you're struggling with thoughts that are carnal, remember that you can take every thought captive.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," - 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV
